The area east of the center along the track consists largely of working-class housing. The workers’ houses with front gardens were built by various architects and construction companies such as De Bloem. The blocks of houses bear the hallmarks of the Art Nouveau style. The decorative elements are simple, such as colored windows in the fanlights, glazed stone arch fields and keystones. Over time, the houses have become privately owned. Due to many individual interventions and extensions, the unity in the streetscape has been lost.
