The wooden villa Pampahoeve was bought in 1911 as a kit from the firm Boulton & Paul Ltd. in Norwich, England. The client Frederik Smidt had the villa built by the local contractor G. Seppen.
The garden at the rear was laid out as a Japanese garden. The name Pampahoeve seems to have a relationship with the Argentine past of the Smidt family. Pampa is the South American name for treeless grassland, as it was on the southwest side of the villa.
