Dudok had taken over the position of house designer for insurance company De Nederlanden van 1845 (now Nationale Nederlanden) from architect Berlage. The curved shape of their Arnhem office block from 1939 follows the building line of the park on the old town ramparts. Behind the high glass walls on the first floor used to be the open-plan pffice for the staff of the bank.
