The office building De Nederlanden from 1845 with gallery flats (1942-1952) is an icon on the street Meent in Rotterdam. Grand-café Dudok is located in the former double-height office halls. It was probably because of this building design that Dudok was appointed urban planning supervisor of the reconstruction of the street Westewagenstraat behind it in 1948.
