The multi-tenant building Erasmushuis, designed in 1939, was the first ‘skyscraper’ on Rotterdam’s Coolsingel. By now, the 35-meter-high tower has now been incorporated into an urban landscape of a completely different size and scale. The low wing is supported by columns six metres high, and underneath it the seventeenth-century Schielandhuis can be seen.
