To decorate the square on Kerkstraat, opposite the then post office (demolished in the early 1960s), the brand new Director of Public Works Dudok designed a fountain with lantern. It was an 8 meter high column of sturdy masonry, executed in the Amsterdam School style. The flower boxes were integrated into the design. In 1950 the square decoration was demolished.
