In 1937 the harbor arms of the new harbor were dredged and construction work started. Dudok designed the harbor office with staff residence at the end of the first spit of land between the first and second harbor arm. The office was partly placed on stilts over the water so that there was a good view of the shipping. The terrace above the harbor office also contributed to this. During the war, the harbor office was destroyed and had to be demolished. A new office was built to a modified design, which had to make way in 1998 for the expansion of the industrial estate.
