The main building of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Hoogovens en Staalfabrieken (Royal Dutch Blast Furnaces and Steelworks Public Limited, now Tata Steel) in IJmuiden was built in 1951. It was designed in such a way that it was easy to expanded with additional office wings, three of which have been added at the rear. The façade cladding of tiles conceals dirty deposits.
