The Nienke van Hichtumschool (1929-1930) in Hilversum was built as a kindergarten and is now used as an after-school care facility. Everything in this building is adapted to pre-schoolers: low windows like those in the round conservatory of the playroom, low window sills to sit on and a skipping-porch. The tower resembles a dovecote, with nesting boxes and ‘landing strips’.
