In the early 1960s, there were grand plans for the expansion of Diemen as a residential and working area. This was in line with project developer Matser’s plan for a large indoor shopping center with apartment houses, which was to become the heart of the center. Apartment houses and maisonettes were built above the shopping center. It took several years before construction could begin. Over the years, many adjustments have been made to the complex.
