The controversial purchase of the English Expo pavilion, from the World Exhibition in Brussels, is a good example of the Hilversum administrative dynamics during the term of office of Mayor J. Boot. The pavilion was for sale for a price of seven tons and could also serve as a conference center. The entire city council immediately went to Brussels by bus and returned enthusiastically. Who described the delight and surprise of the mayor Boot, when it turned out that the Crown had suspended the purchase decision of the city council. On an unsolicited audience with the Minister of the Interior, Boot managed to get his blessing. And Hilversum had its Expohal! The Expohal has made way for the Dudok college.
